Another school year and another lunch box struggle. Some are too small, some leak, and most don’t keep food warm. So when I came across the OmieBox Bento Box, I was cautiously optimistic — but it completely exceeded my expectations.
Today we are reviewing the OmieBox Bento Box for Kids. I recently had the opportunity to test this product for the first time. I was really excited to use it because the OmieBox is a lot more stylish and functional than the countless others I’ve tried. Let’s dive in and take a look at why this is one of the best lunch boxes for kids.
My Review of the OmieBox Bento Box
First off, the built-in insulated food jar is what sets this lunch box apart from others. No more juggling multiple containers that get left behind on the lunch table. The food jar section actually keeps food warm until lunchtime, which means that leftover spaghetti or even warm chicken nuggets are totally doable for school lunches.
Another standout feature is how kid-friendly the OmieBox is. The lid is easy to open, even for small hands, and it doesn’t require a degree in engineering to put back together. Even kindergartners are able to open and close it without issues — and that’s saying something.
I also love the leak-proof compartments. You can pack yogurt, dips, or applesauce without worrying about everything mixing into one mystery meal. The separate compartments are great for picky eaters who don’t want their food touching.
The Best Thing About the OmieBox
Ok, the removable stainless steel vacuum insulated food jar bares mentioning again. Other bento-style lunch containers such as the Yumbox are great but they require the purchase of a separate thermos if you want a hot lunch.

Plus, if you ever want to use the box without it, you can just pop it out and use the full space for cold items.
With the OmieBox Bento Box, you get versatility that adapts to your kid’s lunch habits and your family’s busy mornings. It’s perfect for parents who want to pack real, hot meals — not just sandwiches and snacks.
The Thing I Didn’t Like About the OmieBox
As much as I love the OmieBox, I’ll admit — it’s a little bulky. If your child carries a smaller backpack, it may be a tight fit. The measurements are 8.5″L x 7.5″W x 3″H so you’ll want to make sure your kid’s backpack can accommodate this lunch box.
That said, the added functionality and ability to keep food warm is well worth the trade-off in size.
