I once had a huge clunky roasting pan that occupied the majority of cabinet space for pots and pans. Many of us only use roasting pans when it’s time for holiday cooking so it was super inconvenient having to deal with this space invader.

We’ve found a great roaster pan option that my family uses nearly every weekend for Sunday dinners. Today we are reviewing the Viking 3-Ply Stainless Steel Oval Roaster with Lid and Rack that can be used year-round.
My Review of the Viking Roasting Pan With Lid
The roaster is listed with the ability to handle a 14lb turkey. However, we were not able to correctly fit a bird of that size onto the roaster rack. The size is however, more than enough for roasting a prime rib or a bird up to 12 lbs. This was no problem for my family since we rarely buy turkeys larger than 10 lbs.

The Viking 3-Ply Stainless Steel Roasting Pan includes a 4 Qt. lid that can be used separately as a casserole dish, saute pan or even a serving tray. Talk about ultimate versatility! I’ve only used the lid as a serving vessel but it’s nice to have the option to use it as additional cookware – especially if you don’t have a lot of pots and pans.
The Viking Stainless Steel Roaster Pan with lid has a three-layer (3-Ply) construction combining the durability of stainless steel with the great conductivity properties of aluminum. This combination promises even heat distribution throughout the entire pan during cooktop and oven cooking.
The Best Feature of the Viking Roasting Pan with Lid and Rack:
The best thing about the Viking 3-Ply Stainless Steel Oval Roaster with Lid and Rack is the ability to add the lid and use the roasting pan as a dutch oven, roaster or stockpot.
The versatile use of the Viking Oval Roasting Pan is why it’s considered a 3-in 1 roaster and makes it an absolute game changer in your kitchen.
The Viking roaster definitely sets itself apart from the huge roasters that are only used at Christmas and Thanksgiving. In fact, the vessel has become my go-to cookware when I make large batches of broth and soup.
Let’s face it. The Viking 3-Ply Stainless Steel Oval Roaster is not the cheapest roasting pan you will find. However, if you want the best stainless steel roaster with a lid and rack then it’s worth the price, which I find to be a bargain for the quality.

Our Final Thoughts
There were three key features that made the Viking Roasting Pan with Lid a fantastic roaster pan with rack option.
If you aren’t cooking birds larger than 12lbs, this roaster is a perfect option. It won’t take up too much space in your cupboards, yet it has large enough dimensions to handle meals for family and friends.
The Viking 3-in 1 Roaster’s 3-Ply Stainless Steel construction is one of the best in the industry. The 3-ply combination of a stainless steel outer layer, an aluminum core and an anodized aluminum layer provides even heating in a durable cooking vessel. The stainless steel interior is also non-reactive, so you don’t worry about your meals having a funny taste.
The best feature of the Viking Roaster was the versatility. This pan can work triple duty – as a roaster (with rack or covered), a dutch oven or a stockpot.
The 4 quart lid that can also be used as a casserole dish, saute pan or serving vessel is a nice, unexpected touch. It has an elegant, mirrored finish. We use it as a serving dish once we slice our roasted meats and it looks beautiful on our table.
