Can I tell you a secret? I love griddle pans. I have a large electric griddle pan that I pull out when I have company but it’s too big and bulky for my family’s everyday use.

I found a great alternative that I use every weekend for family breakfast. Check out our review of the HexClad 12” Hybrid Griddle Pan to find out if you agree with us that this nonstick pan is a must-have.
Our Review of the HexClad Griddle Pan
The HexClad Griddle Pan has a wide cooking space of 12 inches. I only have to load it up twice to make a full stack of pancakes for my family of 4. This is also my go-to pan for making grilled cheese sandwiches and even a couple of steaks. The flat surface is perfect for making sure all areas of the food cook evenly.
A major apprehension with purchasing non-stick pans is the fear of toxins. The HexClad Stainless Steel Griddle Pan is non-toxic and PFOA-free. The non-stick used is a high-grade non-toxic Japanese ceramic coating.
The HexClad Griddle Pan has a three-layer (3-Ply) construction. The first and third layers are stainless steel. Sandwiched between the 2 layers is an aluminum core. This combo provides the durability of stainless steel with the great conductivity properties of aluminum. This combination promises even heat distribution throughout the entire pan during cooktop and oven cooking.
The Best Feature of the HexClad 12” Stainless Steel Griddle Pan:
The best thing about the HexClad 12” Hybrid Griddle Pan is the interior design. It consists of the most innovative technology we’ve seen in cookware in quite some time.
HexClad uses laser-etching to apply a stainless steel hexagon design to the interior of the griddle pan. This passes on the excellent searing capabilities of stainless steel to this phenomenal cookware.
In addition, the interior of the HexClad griddle pan has non-stick valleys that consist of a Japanese non-stick coating infused with diamond dust.

What Makes The HexClad Griddle Pan “Hybrid”?
The combination of cooking capabilities/ benefits of stainless steel, cast iron and non-stick in one set of cookware is what makes HexClad cookware hybrid. Not so long ago, consumers had to exclusively choose a non-stick pan that wasn’t very durable if they wanted easy cleanup.
Conversely, if a consumer wanted durability they had to opt for a stainless steel option that was not the easiest to clean. Now, through their innovative technology, HexClad has integrated the most important features into one set of cookware.
Any Negatives?
Even though I love this pan, our HexClad Griddle Pan review wouldn’t be complete if I didn’t list the couple of things I would change.
For starters, the pan isn’t cheap. There are other griddle pans that are ⅓ of the price of HexClad’s. However, you’ll probably find yourself throwing those other pans away in less than a year. If you want the best nonstick griddle pan then the HexClad option is well worth the price.
Secondly, although not entirely horrible, the HexClad Griddle Pan has to be seasoned prior to first use to obtain the non-stick factor. Luckily, this process takes less than 5 minutes. After this process is done, the nonstick ability will be evident and will only get better with time as the pan will constantly re-season itself using oil/fat from the foods being cooked.

Summarizing Our HexClad Griddle Pan Review
There were a couple of key features that made the HexClad Griddle Pan stand out from other competitors.
Size
If you’re looking to cook pancakes, crispy hash browns, bacon or even a couple of steaks or salmon filets, this pan is up to the task. It won’t take over precious kitchen space like a large electric griddle, yet you can rest assured that the 12” cooking diameter is enough to handle everyday meals for your family.
Hybrid Construction
The HexClad Griddle’s 3-Ply construction is what gives it the ability to provide a great sear when needed while providing sustainable heating. The 3-ply combination of stainless steel inner and outer layers, with an aluminum core gives you even heating in a durable cooking vessel.
The griddle pan interior consists of an hexagon, laser-etched stainless steel overlay. This is accompanied by non-toxic, PFOA free, non-stick “valleys”. The stainless steel overlay and non-stick valleys combine to give you the best of both worlds – Searing power of stainless steel with easy clean-up of nonstick.
Verdict?
After using the HexClad Griddle Pan just once, you’ll wonder what you did without it. We highly recommend the durable, innovative HexClad 12” Griddle Pan as a high-quality piece of cookware to add to your kitchen.
